MIDEM 2008 (January 27-31 2008, Cannes, France), highlighting the European culture and supporting the promotion of European music during this music fair.
The European Directorate-General for Education and Culture will once again have a stand during the MIDEM 2008 (January 27-31 2008, Cannes, France), with the aim of highlighting the European Union’s activities in the field of culture and more specifically supporting the promotion of European music during this music fair. The European Commission’s stand will reflect Europe’s achievements in music and inform people on its importance for Europe’s future development.
During consultations between the European Commission, the music sector and Member States it has become apparent that on the one hand not all Member States have a stand during this fair and that – on the other hand – new professional structures (for example music labels, publishers, collecting societies) are not always able to carry the costs of an individual stand and because of this they miss the opportunity of participating in this event. This limits the mobility of European artists and their work.
Midem is the place where music makers, cutting-edge technologies, brands and talents come together under one roof to source, sell and sign new music, digital solutions and innovative ideas.
