Winter Music Conference 2010 Been There, Done That

I’ve still got and use the t-shirts and the bags too from 2001 and 2003! My first WMC in 2001 included my single Been There, Done That as the 17 track on the WMC 2001 Compilation CD produced by Willie Ray Lewis.

I must say it all started with the Winter Music Conference and Miami Beach when Willie and I handed my demo STAR EP with four tracks to Harry Towers who had about 300 artist already hanging from his shoulders. Harry Towers is one of the most influential persons in American dance music today. He is also one of the sweetest! He’s been repeatedly nominated (and/or awarded) for “best independent dance label promoter” at the annual Winter Music Conference. Harry’s also performed at some of New York City’s most popular clubs, and has mixed for as many as 45 radio stations across the United States, as well as Sirius Satellite Radio. He’s worked as a Billboard Dance Music Reporter, and is one of the first DJ’s to play “techno” on local New York television when he hosted a dance music television show called “Staten Island Dance Party.” In various capacities, he’s worked with some of the biggest recording artists and labels in the industry and continues to promote new artists to the most influential radio-mixshow DJ’s in the country.

Harry got back to New York and I went home to Washington, DC but three long months later he called and wanted to sign me and release the fourth song on the STAR EP called It Can Happen To You and that is how I got my music on dance floors around the world! So, I some how got my close friend and producer/dj Willie Ray Lewis to move to Miami Beach with me in August of 2001 and a few months later we were performing at CROBAR and it was incredible!
